Developments in 21st century technology have the potential to cause social, cultural, economic, and political changes. It is predicted that biotechnology, nanotechnology, artificial technology, robotic studies, internet of things (IoT), and developments in health informatics will become determinant
dynamics of health systems and nursing. This study discusses the effects of IoT and robots on the future of healthcare. It was developed by searching
the PubMed, Sciencedirect, Medline, CINAHL, Ebcohost, and ULAKBİM databases using the following keywords: “internet of things,” “future,” “robots,”
“healthcare,” and “nursing.” According to futurists, devices such as smart, wearable, and tight-fitting physiological sensors that can measure vital signs
(ECG, oximeter, thermometer, and pulse), smart implants for blood sugar, remote-controlled nanorobots working in the veins of old or disabled people
and enabling them to live independently, artificial organ production, and 3D printers, are few of the many innovations that will have direct effects on
healthcare and nursing. An analysis of reports that have predicted the future of healthcare showed that, in the close future, practices in fields such as
home care, geriatrics, remote patient monitoring, chronic disease management, and health education are expected to develop with IoT and robots.
This information means that is highly important for nurses and health professionals to be aware of the future roles of IoT and robots in health systems
and to reflect on the future of technologies in their professional practices. It can be suggested that research projects on technological trends should
be conducted by supporting the innovative ideas of health professionals that may affect the future.
