Özet

Attachment theorists have approached parent-infant interaction as a process that affects the quality of life. The rhythm, style and consequences of relationships with the parent from birth result in behavioral results. All these behaviors are shaped in interaction according to cultural bases. For correct interaction, it is necessary to examine the concepts of sensory awareness, mind mindedness, interactive synchronism and emotional availability related to interaction. In this section, the concept of emotional availability will be examined in terms of its effects. Studies on emotional availability have increased in recent years. Factors such as mother-child attachment, parenting skills, and parental stress are discussed in this section. It was revealed that the concepts of “emotional deprivation of parents, parental sensitivity, parental control” determined in studies on Emotional Availability and attachment, and “safe refuge, maintenance of closeness, the basic of trust, and pain of separation behaviors” determined in studies on attachment are very related to each other. Studies conducted on emotional availability and maternal care and attention reveal that as the mother’s sensitivity and emotional availability toward the baby increases, she communicates better with her baby, and as a result the baby’s emotional availability and communication skills also increase. It has been observed that as the parenting skills increase, positive changes occur at home and the emotional availability of parents increases. On the other hand, it was revealed that as the parental stress due to trauma increases, parents neglect the emotional aspects in their relationship with their child and the emotional accessibility decreases. In conclusion, it was determined that reactive-proactive aggression was positively associated with emotional dysregulation and negatively with parental emotional accessibility.
