Özet

In the study, it was aimed to determine the opinions of gifted students on STEM applications differentiated according to the parallel curriculum model in the 7th grade "Electricity" unit. The research was constructed within the framework of basic qualitative research, one of the qualitative research designs. Data were collected with Semi-structured Interviews consisting of three questions after the application. The research took a total of 22 lesson hours, six of which were pre-application and sixteen hours of practice. 12 gifted students studying at the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Science and Art Center in the 2017-2018 academic year participated in research. Data were analyzed using descriptive and content analysis. As a result of the content analysis of the data on the first interview question, it was suggested that the students should apply STEM applications differentiated according to parallel curriculum program to their other friends in their lessons. When the data obtained from the second question were analyzed; all of the students stated that STEM education differentiated according to the parallel curriculum model should be used in other units. They defined it as being a practical education, leading to acquiring new knowledge, being fun and making 3D design. When the data obtained from the second question were analyzed; all of the students stated that STEM education differentiated according to the parallel curriculum model, should be used in other units. They cited this as "being an applied education" and "being effective in keeping the concepts in mind". When the data on the third question are analyzed; the students said that they learned how to set up serial, parallel and mixed connected electrical circuits, how ammeters and voltmeters are connected to circuit and how to measure the current and voltage values in the electrical circuit, energy conversions, circuit with arduino, coding and 3D design. Recommendations to researchers can be listed as; "STEM applications differentiated according to the parallel curriculum model can be applied in different units of different grade levels (4th, 5th, 6th and 8th grade) science and technology lesson.", "Since STEM education is a detailed approach that covers different disciplines, the educator should know the concepts related to these disciplines in depth.", "The effects of STEM applications differentiated according to the parallel curriculum model on different variables (such as scientific process skills, science literacy) can be investigated." and "If the researcher wants to apply a program that includes robotics applications within the scope of STEM education, ıt is necessary to attend the trainings provided by various state or private institutions on how to transfer specific knowledge to students.
