In this paper, for the first time, we describe a facile method for synthesis of Ag-deposited Tween-20 coated Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles, which have a magnetic core and active silver nanoparticles an outer shell using polyvinylpyrrolidone as the reductant of AgNO3 in ethanol. The synthesized magnetic nanocatalyst was characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier trasform infrared spectra, Transmisson and scanning electron microscopy, and vibration sample magnetometer have been used for different hydrogenation reactions containing 2-nitroaniline, 3-nitroaniline, 4-nitroaniline, 4-nitrophenol by monitoring UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The obtained product showed a narrow size distribution and good catalytic activity towards various hyrogenation reactions. This magnetic catalyst could also be easily separated by magnetic separation and reused many times.
