This paper proposes an advanced successive interference cancellation strategy for the non-orthogonal multiple access technique. The strategy is based on mapping the received signals into sub-groups. The mapping process aims to achieve the highest rates for each of the sub-groups. After this mapping process, the conventional successive interference cancellation strategy is applied to each of the sub-groups for the signal separation process. According to analytical, asymptotic and Monte-Carlo simulation results, the advanced successive cancellation strategy outperforms the conventional successive interference cancellation strategy in terms of the outage performance. In addition, the new strategy also provides a new perspective for the user delay decoding process.
