Sarcoidosis is a multisystemic granulomatous disease of unknown etiology which might affect the lungs, mediastinum, peripheral lymph nodes, liver, spleen, eyes, adrenal glands, pleura, skin and bone. The reported frequency of seplenomegaly in sarcoidosis ranges from 1% to 40%. We present here two cases in which splenectomy was performed for diagnostic purposes, especially with the suspicion of lymphoma, but later on found to be sarcoidosis.
