Professor Ufuk Çakatay is a tenured professor, and a senior scientist at Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, Cerrahpaşa School of Medicine, Department of Medical Biochemistry. Dr. Çakatay has previously been an associate professor at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Central Laboratory of Clinical Biochemistry. He has been studying on various protein oxidation markers such as protein carbonyl groups, protein carbamyl groups, protein hydroperoxides, advanced oxidation protein products, and nitrotyrosine. Dr. Çakatay has been publishing articles and book chapters on free radical biology, gerontology, diabetes, and biological activity of alpha lipoic acid in diabetes and aging since 1998. Dr. Çakatay served as the guest editor, referee or a member of the editorial board for more than 40 journals as well as Committee on Animal Research and Ethics of Istanbul University. He has also published more than 100 articles in various journals, and continues to contribute to the field.
